Following the timely and complete completion of technical maintenance, the Passport Seva portal, which includes the GPSP, is now operational as of September 1, 2024, at 1900 IST.According to the official Passport Seva website, “System is now available for citizens and for all MEA/RPO/BOI/ISP/DoP/Police Authorities.”

As previously announced, the Passport Seva portal will be unavailable starting on Thursday, August 29, 2024, and lasting for five days. According to the official Passport Seva website, the portal will be unavailable from Thursday, August 29, 2024, at 20:00 IST to Monday, September 2, 2024, at 6:00 IST due to scheduled maintenance. The system was unavailable to the public and to all MEA, RPO, BOI, ISP, DoP, and police authorities during the maintenance window. 

Passport Seva portal technical maintenance: What will happen to scheduled appointments ?

According to the Passport Seva official website, applicants will be notified of any appropriate rescheduling of their already scheduled sessions for August 30, 2024.

The Passport Seva portal will be unavailable from Thursday, August 29, 2024, at 20:00 IST until Monday, September 2, at 6:00 IST due to technical maintenance. During this time, the system won’t be accessible to the public or to any MEA, RPO, BOI, ISP, DoP, or police authorities. The appointments that have already been planned for August 30, 2024, will be appropriately rescheduled, with notification given to applicants,” the Passport Seva website stated.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, numerous phony websites and mobile applications are gathering personal information from applicants in exchange for large fees for completing online applications and setting up appointments for passport and related services.

The Ministry has learned that numerous phony websites and mobile applications are gathering personal information from applicants and charging exorbitant fees for completing online applications, setting up appointments for passport applications, and other related services. A number of these phony websites, including www.applypassport.org, www.online-passportindia.com, www.portal.in, www.passport-india.in, www.passport-seva.in, and www.indiapassport.org, are registered under the domain names *.org, *.in, and *.com,” the statement continued.

All citizens who are applying for an Indian passport and related services have been urged by the government not to access any of these bogus websites or pay for passport-related services. www.passportindia.gov.in is the official website of the Indian government’s Ministry of External Affairs, where applications for passport services can be made.

As an alternative, candidates may utilize the official mPassport Seva mobile app, which is available for download from the iOS and Android app stores.
